5 movies (based on books) that I’m excited about right now:
It’s Sight to Behold’s monthiversary today, and it has officially outlived all of the diaries I’ve ever tried to keep (by a lot)! Woohoo!
I’ve only been able to watch 2 of the movies from my list (X-Men: First Class and Little Dorrit- done and done!), but Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is coming out in less than two weeks, Jane Eyre should be out on DVD sometime in August, and I’ll just have to wait till September to watch Anonymous. So, instead of learning my lesson and talking about movies that are actually coming out in the near future, I’m going to pick a bunch of movies that aren’t coming out anytime soon- 2 of them are coming out in 2012! But here’s a list of the 5 book-based movies I’m most excited about right now.
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2- Ok, I’m cheating a little on this one because it was on my other list, but I’ve read the book and I’m excited to see it, so I decided that it counts. The first part was so good I can’t wait to see how they top it in this one. Plus it’ll be a great dollar-theater movie to go to with a bunch of people once I’m back at Covenant. It’ll be out in 10 days, and I’m totally planning on going on opening night. (I’ve always wanted to go to a movie’s opening night, but I’ve never actually done it yet.)
- The Hobbit- I absolutely adored this book the first time I read it (I think it was in 4th or 5th grade for school), so I decided to re-read it since the movie’s coming out and everything. It’s so much better than I remember, and I might just have to re-read The Lord of the Rings now. It’s crazy good. Plus they’re bringing back all the actors from LOTR; Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Christopher Lee… everybody. Martin Freeman looks like he’ll be a good Bilbo and from what I’ve heard Richard Armitage makes a pretty good Thorin Oakenshield. I think it’s a little weird they’re adding a character (a Mirkwood elf named Tauriel) but it’s Peter Jackson, so I’m sure it’ll make sense when I see it.
- The Hunger Games- I meant to save this for the ride to VA Beach but I got carried away and finished it before we even left. Whoops. This book is really addictive, and I loved the Greek-myth-influence (thank you classical education). Since I’m all excited about the book (hopefully I’ll get to read the sequel soon…) I’m really excited about the movie too, but unfortunately it comes out in 2012. So now I have to be patient. I think it’ll be interesting to see how they play the Katniss/Peeta relationship, because that seems like it’d be super tricky to get right.
- The Three Musketeers- I actually hated this book when I read it because D’Artagnan is a jerk of epic proportions. Seriously, I can’t stand it. But this movie looks absolutely nothing like the book, so in this case I’m really happy. In the trailer it almost had a sci-fi feel, with all the ship/hot air balloon hybrids and Milla Jovovich as a ninja-assassin (not really) Lady de Winter. Plus it has Luke Evans (Bard from The Hobbit) and Matthew Macfadyen (Little Dorrit) in it, and Orlando Bloom looks like he’s having way too much fun hamming it up as one of the villains (but it looks like it’ll be pretty hilarious- he even has an earring!). It should at least be entertaining, and it already looks better than the original novel.
- Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy- I haven’t read the original John le Carre novel, but the trailer looks really interesting and I’ve kind of been on a spy movie bender lately. Plus when I was watching the trailer I was like, Hey it’s Gary Oldman! And Tom Hardy! And Colin Firth! And Mark Strong! So I’ll definitely have to read the book and then see the movie.
I also liked the three musketeer movie much more than I liked the books.
Awesome list! Thanks for posting!
Did you ever see “The Hobbit” cartoon? Came out in 1977. I never read the book, so I wonder how close the cartoon was to the book. Hopefully they will keep the movie faithful to the book.
I actually have a clip on “The Hobbit” cartoon on a recent blog post I did, so you can check it out if you want.
Look under: 7 Childhood Movies That Weirded Me Out
I heard about the Hobbit cartoon, and I might have seen little bits and pieces from commercials, but I’ve never actually watched it. I can totally understand why it would weird you out 🙂
Thanks for commenting on my blog. I am just getting started and hope to be as awesome as you someday (Freshly Pressed).
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy tops my list! It looks like a fantastic movie–the book is great. Don’t stop with just Tinker Tailor, though. Read the rest of the Karla trilogy–The Honourable Schoolboy and Smiley’s People.
Also looking forward to HP7B.
Tabitha! What are the odds that your post would be featured on the wordpress homepage? I was reading this post and my stomach about bottomed out when I read “when I get back to Covenant…” Small internet, eh?
Hope you’re enjoying your summer!
– Karin
Hey Karin! I definitely did a double take when I saw your comment, it’s so good to hear from you! It really is a small internet 🙂 My summer’s been good, I hope yours is going well!
Awesome list! I hadn’t heard of the three musketeers coming out. I feel your pain on not liking the book though. I feel that way about Jane Eyre. I like movie versions of it, but I hated the book. Three pages to describe a pastry on a plate, and then two sentences to tell me you’re not going to eat it! Unacceptable! 😉
Congrats on the blogoversary. Love the Sleeping Beauty pic to celebrate! “Two eggs, fold in gently. Fold?” *crunch*
Is there a new Three musketeers movie? I’m not sure if there was already one made or if I’m mixing it up with the movie The Three Amigos…?
Yep, there’s another Three Musketeers from 1993 with Kiefer Sutherland, and a new one coming out in 2011. I love The Three Amigos, I need to watch it again sometime… 🙂
I might be wrong but i think the movie “The MAn in the Iron Mask” starring Leo DeCaprio is ‘somewhat’ about the musketeers..
nice one!
Your #3 is the one on my list. Anything with classical/mythological influence that is well done will be a fav of mine.
Agreed on the first 3! i’d probably have “One Day” and “The Help” as my other 2 choices 🙂
Ooooh, I forgot about The Help, I’ve been wanting to see that too!
Fun list … all look great!
And it’ll be totally great if they can actually make a Three Musketeers movie that doesn’t suck.
😉
I would love if Sleeping Beauty was a part of that list. … Loved that movie and book as a child. 🙂 I am excited for The Hobbit!
I love The Three Musketeers! Great post and congrats!
I read the original novel by John le Carré!
Super good!

I’m new here. it’s my first comment.
u r visionable~
Wish our town had a dollar movie theater, I’d see movies more often.
I tried reading The Three Musketeers, but it went on forever. However I saw the movie (the good one with Raquel Welch and Faye Dunaway) and fell in love with fencing and good film making.
Would like to take my daughter to see Deathly Hallows, but I’m afraid it may be too intense for her. She got upset when I told her Dobby died.
May let go of some cash for The Hobbit. Unless we replace the t.v. first and then I’ll wait for it to come out on disc at the library.
Enjoy the popcorn!
Gotta agree wholeheartedly with those first two! Counting down for HP. congrats on being Freshly Pressed.
I’m excited to see the new Three Musketeers movie! I think Orlando is very good casting for it… great post!
I don’t know if I’d go to see it in a theater (I very rarely go out to movies) but I’d probably have to check out the Hunger Games movie eventually, the book was amazing. I think the sequels were just as good as the first book.
I’m glad the sequels are just as good- now I’m even more excited to read them. 🙂
I am totally waiting for the movie HP7…. I m a huge fan of HP movies! 😀
Congratulations on being freshly pressed!
Yep got to agree withyour list and the Three Musketeers trialer looked like a cross between Pirates of the Caribbean and some sci fi! What a facelift for this perennial book into film!
Also added to your list the next Mission Impossible – not for Tom Cruise but the sheer audacity of the plots – and by the time we get through all these the next James Bond will be out! Whew! I ‘m glad I’m not really into ‘blockbuster -male-fantasy-spies-kick-butt’ movies aren’t you?
I might go back to Mozart’s sister after all that excitement!
I hope Jackson does half as good a job with “The Hobbit” as he did with LOTR. I had a few issues with that trilogy (definitely not happy with “The Two Towers”), but all in all, it was a good adaptation. Good to hear that you took the time to re-read “The Hobbit”, it’s a good book, and I guess we’ll be finding out how good a movie it become in a bit.
Thanks for the list! First things first…I gotta read all these books. Although I have to say, sometimes reading the book first ruins the movie if it’s not done well. I’ll cross my fingers on these though.
I’m a fan of Gary Oldman’s work too. So I’ll be paying attention to that. Haven’t read the book though. So I’ll have to look that up on my Kindle and see about it.
the hunger games trilogy is awesome (the first book is the best, but the other two are good as well). i’m pretty excited myself to see the movie, plus the 3 musketeers…i love a good matthew macfayden movie.
This freaked me out, you matched my list (if I had one) exactly! Every single movie. Astonishing. Congrats to being freshly pressed, well earned!
Interesing.I didn’t know there was a new 3 musketeers movie either. but there you go. I hardly go to the movies these days. Good choices
I tried reading The Hobbit when I was seven and then forgot about it. I will have to read it soon before the movie comes to South Africa!
I haven’t read Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy yet. I have been meaning to get a new book and I believe this will be it.
I hate adaptations. They just encourage Hollywood to rip other people off and not create actual new ideas. Normally it isn’t so bad, but lately it is getting ridiculous.
Also, the Three Muskateers has been done to death.
My gosh! The Hunger Games film is going to be fantastic. I can’t wait, the books are AMAZING.
Can’t wait for HP7.2 too!!! Am super excited! 🙂
Am waiting for Hunger Games too the book were super!

I’m also really looking forward to “The Help.” The book was amazing and the trailer looks great. I’ve even heard Oscar buzz already!!
Really looking forward to the hobbit too, the book was actually fantastic. My father read it to me when I was little and the illustrated version was seriously good. If it’s anything like ‘lord of the rings’ I imagine it’ll be well worth watching.
Thanks for the great list! I’m a 24 year old semi-adult and I cannot wait to see Harry Potter…But I’d never heard of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, it sounds really good and I love all those actors so I’ll have to check it out. The only one I would add that I’m DYING to see is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo…such. a. good. book.
Also, set aside some time for yourself to read the second two Hunger Games, because you won’t put them down until they’re done! Congrats on FP!
Is the Hunger Games really that good? I’m debating on whether to read it or not but after your post I am leaning more towards a yes!!! I have to agree I am definitely looking forward to Harry Potter! I’ve read all the books now and seen all the movies thus far!!! It looks like it will be another good one! Just to add to your list though I am reading The Help right now and the movie comes out in August and I must say the book is great! The movie looks good too, but I’m not to fond of the cast for it being such a great book! I know it isn’t action packed or sci-fi like the movies you posted here but I must say it is a great read! Congrats on being Freshly Pressed and I look forward to reading more of your blogs!
Great list I must say. I really CAN’T WAIT for the final Harry Potter, The Hobbit and The Hunger Games. I’ve read the three books and all of them are AWESOME! BTW, congrats for being Freshly Pressed 😉 -Guadi.
I definitely agree with the first 2, and I’m really excited too! Congrats on being freshly pressed!
Great list! I’m so excited for Harry Potter and the Hobbit! And I’m looking forward to the Hunger Games too! Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are my all time favorite books so I’m excited! 🙂
I recently saw the trailer for Three Muskateers and can’t wait to see it. Matthew MacFayden rules.
Add The Help to this list and I am totally with you. Exciting things are on the way!
CAN’T WAIT FOR HARRY POTTER!
But also extremely excited about ‘One Day’ coming out soon as I loved the book! 🙂
Great list. Hopefully the movies will turn out to be worth while.
How rare is it a movie is better than the book, right? I never read 3 musketeers, but the movies were never anything spectacular either so that’s kind of a shame. I loved the movie “Fight Club” and figured the book had to be ten times better… boy was I wrong, lol. Definitely a better movie. Sometimes I think authors ramble in circles trying to get up their word count. The movie sort cut-off-the-fat from the book.
I am SOOOOOO excited about HP7 part 2…My boyfriend and i have passes to a Marathon of all the films starting this Friday at our local cinema…. we are also seeing Part 2 at a midnight showing!
We are also looking forward to the Three muskateers, although i did really love other versions! =)
Nice list. I am a massive HP and LOTR fan so Deathly Hallows 2 and The Hobbit top my list. The only book being turned into a movie that seems to have a ton of potential that is not on your list is Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The book was very good and the movie looks to have a ton of potential.
Nice list, would have been nice to see ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ though!
Great list! I love a good adaptation – Great Expectations, Romeo & Juliet, To Kill a Mockingbird. Of course, you’ve hit on the more recent hits. 🙂
cool flick’s, nice work on the blog.
TINKER TAILER SOLDIER SPY. I saw this post and I had to click it to make sure you had TTSS listed or I’d have to come and wring your fingers off one by one. That movies looks incredible.
Wow, that sounds frightening! Haha I’m glad I had it on the list 🙂
Tinker, Tailor: I saw that it was coming out, and I’ve read some of Le Carre’s other stuff, so I looked at it in the bookstore. The writing is top-notch. I only got through the first few chapters, but I’ll manage to read it before the movie comes out.
I did see the BBC TV series, with Alec Guinness as George Smiley. It was also great. The film has possibilities, with that great cast.
Read at least some of the book, delight in Le Carre’s prose.
Harry Potter: does it really all end?
Three Musketeers: How can they possibly top Richard Lester’s 1973 version, with Oliver Reed, Michael York, Richard Chamberlain, Raquel Welch, Christopher Lee, Geraldine Chaplin, Faye Dunaway, Charlton Heston, and (of course) Spike Milligan? (The less said about the 1993 version, the better.)
Huge Harry Potter fan right here.. 😀
Very fond of Harry Potter
Of course Harry Potter is my favorite..❤
I can’t wait to see The Hobbit, although I agree that the addition of a brand new character is questionable. Gotta have faith in Peter Jackson, I guess…
You seem to place a lot of importance on reading the book first. I’m not sure where I stand on that… I suppose it depends on the complexity of the story. I saw Coraline without bothering with Gaiman’s book, but I read all of the Harry Potter books once I decided the movies were interesting. (And, I do believe Ms Rowling’s books are better by far. :D)
Anyway, I’m being wordy; all I’m asking is: do you think it’s important to read the book first?
I don’t always read the book first, but I guess it’s become a habit since my dad made me read The Lord of the Rings in 6th grade before watching the movies so the orcs wouldn’t scare me. I guess I would say, if you think you’ll ever want to read the book, read it before watching the movie, just because the movie might color your opinion before you even get a chance to read it (like the 1993 Three Musketeers did for me). If you don’t really care about reading the book, I don’t think it’s that big a deal to just go ahead and watch the movie. Sorry for my really wordy reply 😉
That’s why I like to read, first. My mind contains a strange mixture of characters that I know from movies, and characters I designed on my own while reading them… all from the same story! :b
You’re right, though; it’s really not a matter to be passionate about. hah.
ps: Your reply wasn’t wordy; it was, um, wide and thoughtful. 😀
Hahaha, thanks, I’m glad you didn’t mind my wide answer 🙂 And I totally agree about the mixed up mental pictures- sometimes I have so many that it’s just super confusing haha.
this reminds me…yes! i have to start reading The Hobbit! Been wanting to do that, so now it’s a good time to start! I think i’, quite excited about that Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Always been a big fan of Gary Oldman!
SO EXCITED about the Hunger Games coming out! I hope you get to read the rest of the trilogy soon! It’s super fun and awesome.
I like Harry Potter is my favorite.. 🙂
I agree with basically everything you said.
Harry Potter is a given. I’ve read the books, but haven’t really kept up with the movies for whatever reason.
Hunger Games! I wonder who is playing Gale. I hope he’s tall, attractive, and swarthy. 😀
Another popular YA series that is entering into the golden halls of Hollywood is the Mortal Instrument series. Fun reads with–not surprisingly–attractive male leads. The prequel series is currently being written. The first one is out and, I believe, under a movie contract as well. Everyone should check ’em out!
Sadly, I wasn’t too impressed by Jane Eyre. Oh well. I am really looking forward to the Hobbit! Hope the new character doesn’t mess anything up. And I can’t believe the last Harry Potter movie is coming out already.
Fun list! Can’t wait to watch The Hobbit myself!
I don’t think there’s a single person out there who’s not excited about Harry Potter 🙂 I just recently bought the first Hunger Games book and am looking forward to reading it (hopefully I’ll finish the series before the movie comes out).
Awesome list!
Looking forward to watch Harry Potter part 2. Read all the books and gonna watch all the movies as well. I like the books better than the movie, though, because there are so many parts that has to be cut on the screen. Too bad. So I enjoy reading the books.
Great post, I am not looking forward to The Hobbit because I didn’t like the book, but who knows it may surprised me, oh and congrats on getting yourself on Freshly Pressed!
Yeah man, 3 musketeers for the win!
le Carre’s stuff is so detailed, it will be a true challenge to adapt it. I recall reading “The Little Drummer Girl” and feeling like I should be taking notes.
What a coincidence. I’ve recently just read the hobbit! And now I’m reading the “The lord of the Rings” (half way through, it’s really gettIng interesting!). I’ve also read the hunger games. I must say that you’ve put together a great list! But you must read “Vampire Academy” it’s great!
Well done on getting FP! Great post.
P.S Great minds read alike!
I think I want to watch all movies above
I am always scared after reading a good book to watch the movie as i normally find i am either let down by the choice of actors or the change in the story line. good blog and congrats of FP.
I cannot wait for the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2! I think (almost) everybody feels the same way. And I still can’t believe that the epic movie series is about to end this year. I mean, I grew up with it and well, with the characters in the film, so I have learned to really love it. I think it’s one of the more interesting movies that have successfully made it to this many installments.
I’m not exactly that excited for The Three Musketeers although I loved the book. It’s one of the first books I’ve read when I was younger, but the trailer doesn’t look that appealing to me. But, some trailers lie, so I will have to watch it to be able to make a better judgement.
i can’t wait to see The Hobbit!
but The Three Musketeers… how many of film adaptations have we seen? a 100? sounds like b-u-s-i-n-e-s-s 😦
nice
I am curious how they finished the Harry Potter saga. It must quite an amazing film, and I can’t wait!!
Harry Potter comes out on my daughters birthday….she is so excited! Love the post 🙂
Oh yeah! I totally agree with Harry Potter! I also can’t wait to watch the movie!
I am soooo EXCITED to see Harry Potter this Thursday! I’ve been counting down since I saw the last one. Though I’m excited to see it I’m sad that the series is going to come to an end and will have to fulfill my HP needs in other ways. I also think Hunger Games is a great book and am interested to see how it turns out in movie form. But the Hobbit might be a stretch for me even if my boyfriend wont let me get away with not seeing it. Btw I just made my own blog and Im trying to build a base for it so check it out! wordpress.uthwriter.com
Can’t wait to see the new Three Musketeers movie!
congrats on freshly pressed! I am also SUPER excited for the next HP movie…I’ve already got my tickets!
I blasted through the Hunger Games (all three books) in under a week, THAT’S how addictive I thought they were and when I found out there was going to be a movie I had to change my pants.
I just saw the trailer for three musketeers yesterday, funnily enough, and am a HUGE Orlando Bloom fan, so will probably see it based on that alone, but it looked really good!
Great post!
Oh HArry Potter!! I soooo love it!
Thanks for this great post!!!
I cannot hold myself to watch The Three Musketeers!
I totally agree with Hunger Games…the casting is AWESOME and the books were great. I can’t wait. And HP7 part 2 OF COURSE.
Congrats on Freshly Pressed. I’m excited for all of these myself. I’m not as familiar w/ Hunger Games but after seeing the cast, wow. I’ve been psyched for ‘Tinker, Taylor’ for a while now, amazing cast there as well.
Great list! I can’t wait for HP7, part 2 (though I was sorely disappointed with part 1). I’ve read the books several times, taught book 7 twice in an English comp class, and seen all the movies. I’m hoping this last movie will do the book justice.
I didn’t know The Hobbit was coming out; I definitely want to see that one. I haven’t read the book (or any of the Lord of the Rings books, though I did see al LOTR movies). I’m curious about the Hunger Games. I might have to check those out! It’s a series, right?
It’s funny about The Three Musketeers – they have a special place in my heart. I read it when I was a kid (in Spanish) and loved it; then I read Twenty Years After and The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later. I also read Man in the Iron Mask (which loosely integrates the Musketeers) and Count of Monte Cristo (not related to Musketeers at all, but same author). I loved all these Alexandre Dumas books! Anyway, The Three Musketeers have been made into film too many times. I still remember the 1993 version starring Chris O’Donnell as D’Artagnan. 🙂 I will have to check out this new version.
Great list! I’m looking forward to all those books except the last one but only because I’ve never heard of it (but if Oldman’s in it then I’m sure to see it). Oh and have fun going to a midnight showing; it’s a blast! I’ve been going since The Goblet of Fire and it’s just a whole different atmosohere when you’re with true fans.
The Hobbit is a book very close to my heart, awaiting release as well. Can’t wait !!
And I have been put off HP movies by the 5th and 6th one, direction is awful, didn’t watch part one of Deathly Hallows, have no intention to watch part two.
I was a bit put off by the 5th and 6th movie too (especially the 6th) but Deathly Hallows Part 1 was almost completely accurate to the book! I was super impressed!
I’ve heard that there will be one more HP book: “Harry Potter and the Beaker of Bourbon”.
102 responses!? wow i’m jealous… how do you do it? (do you pay for your wordpress??)
Haha no I don’t pay for my wordpress. 🙂 I was put on the Freshly Pressed page a couple days ago, so that’s the reason for all the comments. I was so surprised, I couldn’t believe it!
I’m psyched that they’re making The Hobbit into a film.. and with all the same actors! How did I not know this?? I loved the book the first time I read it and need to reread it!
So excited for Harry Potter (in less than a week!) and for The Hobbit. Also, a belated Happy Monthiversary to you…I just started my blog on here and will be amazed if I keep it up!
I feel your love for those movies! I am also very excited to see those movies, especially The Hobbit. I grew up with that book being my favorite, and only had that shoddy cartoon to satisfy my visual needs. Hope you got tickets for the premier this coming Thursday! It’s bound to be an eventful night. 🙂
I can’t wait for The Hobbit to come out! I read the book just few months ago 🙂 it’s so unfair we from Eastern Europe have to wait for every film more than 2 weeks after it starts in America. Still, I beleive it is worth waiting 😉
I’ve been a huge fan of the Harry Potter books and movies for years so this last movie is so special to me. Can’t wait to actually see it on the big screen.
I had a similar post on my blog: http://theverbalpurple.wordpress.com, about HP 7 part 2! You should check it out! I’m also psyched for the Hobbit, such a great book!
I checked out your post! I actually didn’t grow up with Harry Potter since I started reading it my junior year of high school, but I’m really excited for the movie! It’ll be cool to see your Pottermore post cause I’ve heard about it but I honestly have no idea what it is 😉
I’m pretty excited myself for The Hunger Games movie. Have you ever heard of The Mortal Instruments series? It’s another pretty popular YA book that is supposed to have a movie in 2013. A pretty long while away, but I’m a super fan of the books and it has a pretty solid following.
I have heard of the Mortal Instruments series, but when I wikipedia-ed it (I know, bad idea) I read about Clary and Jace being in love with each other even though they think they’re brother and sister, and that kind of thing has always weirded me out. (Ever since Luke & Leia from Star Wars and reading Oedipus Rex in high school.) I’m sure the books are well-written and everything, but I don’t know if I could get past that. Lots of other people like them though, so I guess it’s just a personal thing.
Good list! I didn’t realize The Hobbit was coming out so soon!
I know, they’ve been releasing photos of the dwarves’ costumes, and it’s awesome. They look so cool!
Not a big Harry Potter fan but I’m looking forward to the Hobbit 🙂
I have my own film-blog
http://thefilmgeekfiles.wordpress.com/
Please check it out and support. Thanks
i am so exited to read the hunger game next year in middle school.speaking of middle school could check out my blog? and if you like it plz support. thx.
themiddleschoolblogs.wordpress.com
I’ll definitely check out your blog. It’s been a while since I was in middle school, so it’ll be interesting to read your blog and remember it 🙂
Thanks for your list.. when i can show it.
Sorry… what do you mean?
The hunger games is a gripping read, but as to how similar it would be brought up on screen will be an issue. You will know what i am talking about if you read the percy jackson series and compare with the movie based on it.They totally spoilt it.The only movie that has come close to depecting its base book is the twilight series.
Actually I have to disagree with you there, because I used to love the Twilight books but I always thought the movies were really cheesy. I’m not a big fan of Kristen Stewart or Robert Pattinson Personally I think The Lord of the Rings movies captured the base book best out of any movie I’ve seen.
I like the Shutter Island the most, it was based on a novel with same name and this movie was full of suspense till end.
I’ve heard Shutter Island was good, but someone told me the twist at the end, so now it seems kind of pointless to watch it. Which is sad, cause a lot of people I know really liked it.
I am absolutely IN LOVE with the Hunger Games series! It was one of few books that I couldn’t help thinking about when I wasn’t reading it, and having dreams about it at night! Not even kidding!
I am already preparing myself for disappointment with the movies, as there is hardly ever a movie better than a book, but nonetheless I am still super excited to see them!
I loved the books too! I haven’t read Mockingjay yet, but the others were super good, and Peeta’s kind of my new favorite. 🙂
I’m pretty hopeful for the movies, mostly because I think the casting’s pretty good and I haven’t seen anything to make me super worried. (Unlike the new Snow White movie- Kristen Stewart? Really? You would think they’d want an actress with more than 1 facial expression. Ok, sorry, I’m being mean.) I’m super excited to see them too!

Pingback: A Very Merry Un-birthday! « Sight to Behold
Here it is November of 2012 and I still have only seen one movie on this list. (Though The Hobbit is not coming out until December–super excited!.) I was very scared of seeing The Hunger Games as it’s one thing to describe violence in a book where there is a level of separation from the audience and to show it on the big screen. But they used a surprising amount of restraint–I applaud you Hollywood! The cinematography was delightful, and they made me not hate Katniss (a nice change). Still, I need to see Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy . As to The Three Musketeers I actually enjoyed the book (though it has been a while since i read it), and I normally hate re-dos of classics. Especially if there’s an abundance of ham involved. There are too many movies I want to see now–both as i have no money and no time for such frivolities 🙂
Oh, I totally understand the no money situation. I haven’t seen a movie in the theater since this summer! Which is strange since that’s the one thing to do for entertainment back home. 😉 I haven’t seen Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy yet either because I’m a horrible person. I did see Walk the Line and (most of) A Beautiful Mind, and they were both really good. Apparently I watch anything that’s not on my movie list lately haha.
Most of A Beautiful Mind? Sacrilege! That is definitely up there on my list of favorite movies. Russell Crowe is always good, and the score is one of my absolute favorites. I shall have to post a movie and book list at some point. Hmm… after SIP, though.
Haha, well my roommate started watching it without me, and then I would come and go to do laundry and shower and such. But what I saw was really good. And yeah, waiting till after SIP is probably a good idea. How’s that going, btw?
Well, besides the random urges to STAB EVERYTHING… I’d say ok?
Oh no, the stabbing/ murderous rampage stage is always fun. I think we have some hot chocolate, so if you ever need some you should come visit… or maybe can make pancakes in 3rd lobby, cause we haven’t done that in a while.
Hot chocolate is soma to my ears! (Or mouth, more accurately(
Try to see The Three Musketeers (1973) with Oliver Reed and Spike Milligan (now THERE’s a combination). It deserves a big screen, but if you have a really big wall screen, that’ll do.
Hmmm, I think the closest I could get to that is a projectors in one of the classrooms. (One of the things that make movie parties great if you’re a college student!) I haven’t seen that version of the Three Musketeers before, so I might have to check it out sometime.
