Snow White Smackdown
So I’ve been wondering lately… what’s the deal with all the Snow White movies coming out? Especially because they’re both supposed to be “dark” interpretations of the fairy tale. It kind of sounds like they’re making the same movie.
And then you look at the movie stills. The Untitled Snow White looks very whimsical…
… Especially when you compare it to Snow White and the Huntsman.
Snow White and the Huntsman definitely gets the moody, grim look, but why, why, why did they cast Kristen Stewart as Snow White? She only has one facial expression and always acts like she’s constipated/depressed – that sounds really harsh, but honestly she’s the one actress that just bugs the crap out of me (along with Amanda Seyfried. I haven’t watched a movie with her in it since Mean Girls.)
Also, why do they feel the need to put all the fairy tale princesses/ Disney Heroines in armor to make them relevant and cool? They did it with the newest Alice, and now they’re doing it with Snow White. Really? I think it’s time to find a new way to put a spin on the classic fairy tales because I’m really tired of them dragging out the princesses in armor to prove they’re “smart and independent.” It’s pathetic that the only way a girl can be “cool” in a movie is for her to to be a fighter, and it seriously takes away so many options for girls; if you’re not a “warrior princess,” you’re either a ditzy nincompoop or the quirky “Mary Sue” type of girl that all girls apparently want to be (Including me a little bit, just saying. Have you seen New Girl? It’s super funny.) Why are those the only three options for girls?
Alright, rant over. I just noticed when I was looking through the pictures– doesn’t Snow White’s shield look a lot like the White Tree insignia on the Gondorian armor in Lord of the Rings? That’s kind of funny.
